There is a moment, somewhere in Uzbekistan, where an artisan ties individual threads into bundles, dips them in dye, unties them, and repeats - before a single metre of fabric has been woven. This is ikat.
The Process
The blurred, flame-like patterns you see in this dress are not printed or stamped. They are the direct result of that painstaking thread-by-thread process, carried out by hand using techniques that are centuries old and recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
This wrap midi dress is cut from one continuous piece of that fabric. The blue and white pattern shifts and varies across the length of the dress - more intense in some places, softer in others - because that is what hand-woven fabric does. It is not a flaw. It is proof.
The Silhouette
A classic wrap: a deep V-neckline, short cap sleeves, and a side-tie closure that lets you adjust the fit to your body. A wide obi-style belt in matching ikat fabric cinches the waist and gives the dress its shape. The skirt falls to midi length and has a gentle A-line flare.
Where to Wear
Wear it to a summer wedding, a dinner, a market, or a Sunday morning that deserves more than ordinary clothes. This is not a dress you will find in a shop. There is exactly one.
